about

Final volume to complete the Rave Tuga series with a bang. Perhaps the hardest volume, it's immersed in bleeps, acid lines and relentless techno cuts from yet another fresh group of artists from Portugal. It all starts moody and pensive with Diogo's 'B-Trails' and Algarve veterans Roundhouse Kick's 'Run', both 303-tinged pad-driven rollers. Temudo, plus local rave pioneers A-Paul and Wla Garcia all switch things up later on, delving into relentless techno territories.

As the compilation evolves, trance-inspired gems arise as well, especially via the arpeggio-driven layered cut by Morrice - a true local rave document, recorded live in the 90s at iconic Porto club Rocks - and José Acid's trippy acid escalade 'Untitled 17'. New talent, kit ket and mina resident ketia offers a twisted acid-on-pads cut that is both evocative and intriguing, just like Unknown's vocal synth and cut-up vox extravaganza and newcomer Valody's wonderful exercise on mutating sonics over broken techno. Benficker and Infestus both come up with more broken approaches, the first exploring electro languages and the second going full-on into uk breaks mode.

Rave Tuga closes this four-volume chapter here, leaving a clear message that there's much to be excited about in the Portuguese scene.

All proceeds from this compilation will go to Casa Qui, an organisation that provides psychological support for LGBTQ youngsters and victims of abuse/violence.
